Widdershins and Other Things

The recipes from this book are very hard to scan because of the shape of the dang thing, which is sad because they include ingredients like turtle, and pig face. Instructions include things such as ‘Firft, kill the pig’, ‘draw out the entrailf’, ‘flice the gizzard’, &c.

‘Calf’s Head Surprise’ certainly sounds surprising as hell to me.

Though I think my favourite so far is the prettily-named ‘Bride’s Pie’, the first instruction of which is ‘Boil two calve’s feet’. Happy Wedding Day!
